Eligibility to train
EMDR is an advanced psychotherapeutic procedure requiring a high level of skill. A mental health clinical background is an essential prerequisite for the effective application of EMDR treatment.
Attendance at EMDR Works training workshops is limited to mental health professionals who are qualified and accredited to provide psychotherapeutic treatment in the mental health field.
This includes:

The core professions of Psychiatry, Mental Health Nursing (NMC), Social Work who have mental health training and Clinical Psychology*.
*(Including - Counselling Psychologists, Health Psychologists, Neuro-psychologists, Occupational Psychologist and Educational Psychologists all of whom will have membership of BPS or Health Professions Council. |

Psychotherapists and counsellors who are accredited by UKCP, BACP, BABCP, IACT, FDAP, BSCH, MCS(Acc) or other recognised accrediting body. |

Accredited Occupational Therapists and Art Therapists with sufficient training and experience of working within a mental health setting may be eligible, but will need to submit evidence of having such clinical skills. |

General practitioners, registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), who are experienced in psychotherapy and psychological trauma and are an accredited counsellor or psychotherapist or working towards a psychotherapy accreditation. |

Applicants in final year of professional training may be eligible if they can show evidence that they will have completed their professional accreditation before they commence Part 3 of their EMDR training. |
